Alli Kahan is an author who dislikes starting sentences with “Alli Kahan is…”— you know I’m the one writing it, it feels disingenuous.

I write because I read. Because of how much I’ve enjoyed having access to so many different minds and the worlds they’ve built that I would like to contribute to this pool of stories myself. To give back and take part in this community.

My goal is to create stories that might uplift people— though I often get feedback from my Grandma that includes the question, “Should I be worried about you?”— so what you’ll see here is a great number of love stories, as that is my favorite kind of happy thing.

For all of the less than uplifting pieces you may read, forgive me and know that my policy is that sad belongs outside the body, not in. And when we write or read another person’s sad, sometimes it has the power of drawing out our own, or giving it company.

Writing has the power to do a great many things, so I hope you’ll find I’m using these powers for good.

Also, Alli Kahan is from Baltimore, and likes sour candy and tea in really big mugs.
